Why choose A-Level Art and Design at Samuel Ward?

The Samuel Ward Art & Design course follows unendorsed route which allows students to explore a range of two or three dimensional approaches to their studies including film, textiles, painting, photography, sculpture and multimedia experiences. This art and design course can be taken discretely against other subjects but also compliments creative subjects such as Media, English, Photography and psychology.

Course Outline

Our exam board is Edexcel and the course titles are AS 6AD01, 6AD02 and A2 6AD03, 6AD04 and information can be found on this website, with the attached link, which gives a full outline and examples of work for each unit.

Resources and facilities

A new building specifically for Art & Design and a newly resourced Art & Design media room will be available from September 2008.

Entry requirements

Candidates must have at least a grade B or above at GCSE in Art & Design, however a well presented portfolio of work for candidates with grade C at GCSE may be accepted for entry.

Course Results

2007 A level results equaled 100% pass with 50 % candidates achieving a grade A. Most students achieved a grade to two grades higher than educational company predictions. Seven students went on to study at degree level without needing to study on a foundation course.
